Saint Valentine’s Day, commonly known as Valentine’s Day, was originally a celebration of early Christian saints. But the day’s association with romantic love is nothing new: as early as the 15th century February 14th had evolved into an event where lovers expressed their passion by presenting flowers, candy and handwritten missives of love.
