Free Historic Walking Tours are back for 2013
STREETSVILLE, ON - Since 1995 the Streetsville Business Improvement Association (BIA) has been offering free tours of the historic Village of Streetsville, located in the City of Mississauga. With the highest concentration of historic buildings in the City, the popular walking tours let local residents and visitors learn about what it was like to live in the bustling town over 100 years ago.
The first tour of the 2013 season will take place on Sunday May 26th from 1pm-4pm-
The tour takes visitors along historic Queen Street to some of Streetsville's oldest buildings, about 25 intotal, both commercial and residential. Tour guide Kay Matthews delves into the unique and interesting past of the families, businesses and famous faces that have passed through many of the buildings since the village was founded in 1858. "For such a small village, Streetsville has a lot of great stories," says Kay Matthews. "With so many historic buildings there are also a few ghost tales to tell along the way of course, so keep your eyes open."
Although the full tour is almost 3 hours long, attendees are welcome to come and go as they please.
